  1. When Dalton asks do you believe in me I think he means do the teachers believe that he can do well in school and do they believe he can make it to college and graduate. He is asking if they think and believe he can get good grades and that he will finish school and get a good job. In my opinion Dalton’s speech was very powerful because to think only a fifth grader could go up there and speak in front of thousands of people is just amazing. I also think it was really powerful because he was encouraging the teachers and staff to care more about their job and if they do care and help students with class and home work that they can achieve in life.

    1. @Melanie "I also think it was really powerful because he was encouraging the teachers and staff to care more about their job and if they do care and help students with class and home work that they can achieve in life." I most certainly agree with you on this! I think it is part of a teacher's job description that they have to care about their students--- if you don't care then you are in the wrong career!

  2. I think Daltons speech was not very powerful. I think that cause he always restated him self saying do you believe in me. He would also ask the teachers if they believed in there acalleagues. It just seemed like it wasnt powerful an that he would always repeat him self. But if he gave other facts why to believ in him I would of thought it was powerful. I just think it needed more detail to tell why to beleive in him.

  3. When Dalton says "do you believe in me" I think he means do you believe that him and his classmates have the ability to succeed in there work and at school. He is also saying if you don't believe in him then you don't believe in yourself, and if you don't believe in yourself then you can't achieve anything. I think Dalton's speech is powerful because he is only in fifth grade and to be brave enough to go up in front of all those people is amazing, I could never do that. It is also powerful because everyone seemed to listen to him and really think about what he was saying which might make people work harder and do better in life.

  5. I think when Dalton says "Do you believe in me" he means do you believe that he can succeed in life and get into a good school. His speech is powerful because he seems very smart and what he says is powerful because he thinks if you don't believe in him, his classmates, and yourself how are you supposed to succeed? So what he is basically saying is to do better in life you have to believe in yourself, be positive, and never give up.

  6. When Dalton says "do you believe in me" I think he mean his classmates his teachers and all of the people that listened to his speech. I mean I believe in him I hope everyone else believes in him. If I don’t believe in him well I don’t believe in myself. Dalton is very brave when I was in fifth grade I wouldn't be able to stand on a stage in front of thousands of people talking and giving a speech. His speech was very powerful everyone was cheering and clapping their hands I thought that’s a very brave boy and a very powerful speech.

  7. When Dalton says "do you believe" in me I think he means do you think a boy or girl of any age can go to college and get an excellent job when he gets older. I also think he means do you think he can tell over 20,000 peopleabout belief. Unfortunately I don't think his speech was too powerful though. I think this because he weakened his voice at the end. If he had kept his voice stong throughout the whole speech I would have said it was powerful.

  8. When Dalton said “do you believe in me?”I think he wanted to tell the teachers that they should believe in him because he is going to their school so to teach him, they have to believe in him. The reason he wants them to believe in him is because they are giving him work and they have to believe that they are teaching him well and that he is understanding what he is being taught. Another time he says do you believe , was when he asks all of them do you believe in all of the kids that go to all your schools if they can graduate high school . The reason that he said that was because the teachers should be providing the information that the kids need to graduate high school. He also says do you believe in your colleges? I think the reason that he said that was because all the teachers need to trust eacother and believe in them in order to be able to work with them. One more phrase he used including “do you believe” was when he asked everyone if they believed in theirselves . The reason he said that was because they need to believe in theirselves in order to get things done and succeed.
I think that his speech was powerful. I believe that because he had a lot of enthusiasm when he was giving the speech which caught a lot of peoples attention. He also explained many reasons why he should believe in themselves. I think they should believe in themselves because they should try to care more about their jobs. I also think that he was right when he said that the kids should believe in themselves. The reason I think that is because a lot of kids make the teachers job harder like dalton said because they like to fool around and make it hard on the teachers. The reason I said that was because the kids need to try harder and respect what the teachers do for us more. Those were a few reasons that Dalton explained why everyone should believe in everyone.

  9. I think what Dalton means by do you believe in me is do you really beleive in him.Do you believe in what ho does.Do you believe in his abilities.Do you believe in how he does what he does.Do you believe in everybody and what they can do and how they and why they what they do.Do you believe that everyone can do what they want to do and do it really good.In my opinion what makes Daltons speech so powerful is the message in his speech. The message is about what kids can do and how they do it.The kids need someone to belive in and give them some courage and help them out. Also do you think that everybody can reach their goals in life and reach their highest potential.

  10. When Dalton said “Do you believe in me” I think he was asking if the audience of people believed that he could do anything and achieve that he wanted. I also think he meant that he wanted all of those people to believe in him. Not only did Dalton want to audience to believe in him he wanted the audience to believe in his class mates and in their collages. That’s what I think Dalton meant when he asked the audience “Do you believe in me”. I think that Dalton Sherman’s speech was very powerful because I know that when I was in fifth grade I could probably never talk in front of that many people. Also I think his speech was very powerful because he put a lot of emotion in to the speech. The crowd really seemed to enjoy his powerful and moving speech. That is why I think Dalton Sherman’s speech was so powerful

  11. In the video when Dalton says "Do you believe in me?" I think he means do his teachers believe he can do anything he wants wants in life. For example do his teachers belive he can get good grades, graduate, and be successful. I think he's saying if you believe that him and anyone else can be successful they will. Also that we can do anything we want if we try and believe in ourselves. I think he's saying we can succeed if other people believe and support us too. In my opinion there are a few things that make Dalton's speech is so powerful. One thing is that he speaks loud and clearly and it makes people listen. Also the fact that he's only in fifth grade is pretty amazing. Another thing is what he's saying and the message he's trying to get across.

  12. Dalton said do you believe in me. I think me meant to say this to all the teachers, principles, staff and adults at school and home. He was asking if they believe in all the kids at every school. Dalton wanted the adults to believe in the kids. He wanted adults to believe kids could get a job could get a good education could graduate high school and college. Dalton wanted all the kids in school to be taught by people who believe in them. He didn't only want the kids to be smart but there kids to and there kids children also. When Dalton said do you believe in me he meant do you believe in every one.
Dalton speech was very power. It was very powerful because he spoke very loudly. Dalton also spoke very clearly and put pauses in between every thing he said. He also uses powerful words in his speech. Dalton also used the term "do you believe" a lot. He used that because it sounds powerful. It also was a question that you had to think about. That is why I think Dalton's speech was powerful.

  13. I think when Dalton said "Do you believe in me" he was trying to tell the teachers that you have to believe in a student for then to succeed in life but if you believe in the student they can do what ever they want.
The speech was so powerful because it was hard to believe a 5th grader can get up in front of 20000 adults and not get stage fright or anything like that. he knew that they believed in him. he knew that he could do it because the power of believing.

  14. Dalton Sherman speech was very powerful. I believe he had a lot of guts to get up on that stage and to do that in front of that many people. That speech was powerful because when he asked "Do you believe in me" Dalton was actually asking his teachers, friends, and family. Dalton made me believe in him because he would say that he believed in himself and that is very important. Dalton had a great speech and I think that everybody listing to him felt that they could do anything too. I think that when Dalton said he believed in everyone else was really powerful and really touched everyones heart. Good job Dalton.
I think it is terrific how a 5th grader can get up and say that wonderful speech there is no way I would be able to do that. I think the reason he had the guts to get up on stage is because he really did believe in himself and he wanted everyone to believe in themselves and believe in him. He did a terrific job of catching people's attention to deliver that speech and he did great. He had a very powerful speech in my opinion and I bet many others enjoyed it too

  15. I think Dalton's speech was not that powerful. I think so because he was talking a lot about being able to do any thing. Also about believing. I think that is very corny and not true. Just because I believe and dream about being president doesn’t mean I will. Also he was talking about the teachers believing and a some of teachers don’t really care about kids that much. That is why I think that Dalton's speech was not powerful

  16. I think Dalton's speech was not so powerful. I don't think its powerful because, he's talking about the confidences we already have in school and the same for the teachers. Some people don't care as much as Dalton thought everybody did. That's why I don't think his speech was powerful

  17. What I think Dalton means when he says “Do you believe in me?’ is that he is asking all of the middle school teachers to believe in the soon-to-be sixth graders, and not think that they can’t do the work and they will have a lot of issues. Dalton knows the he and his fellow classmates can be anything they want to be. The speech Dalton’s makes is powerful because he was able to speak his opinion to all of those teachers and not be afraid. It inspired many of the teachers to believe in the new students. That is why I think Dalton’s speech is powerful.

  18. I Thought Dalton Sherman's speech was very powreful!Dalton a fifth grader was able to get the attention of hundreds of thousands of people including teachers, students, and parents by asking "Do you believe i n me?"It was a very powerful because he was asking everyone if they believed he could get a good education. There are teachers who help some students and dont care for others because they dont believe that he/she could get a good education and learn like the other students,so once the teachr gives up or doesnt care about the student the student gives up in school and wouldn't the same levelof education as others.I thought that Dalton was saying that it helps people if you believe in them and care so they know you are there for them.I also thought Dalton's speech was powerful because he was brave and understanding the need students have to get a good education. Nice job Dalton! That is why I thought Dalton's speech was so pwerful.
