Changing Completely

After both viewing the play at the North Shore Music Theater and finishing up Act 2, we see a huge character change in Scrooge. Describe his character change. Do you believe that people can change completely, as Scrooge does? Explain your response and feel free to include any examples from your life.

Your response must be AT LEAST 8 sentences. Your post is due no later than Friday at 5pm.

  1. I dont think someone can change as fast like that. But I think Scrooge has a reason because he was haunted by 3 ghosts. But any other person probably can't change that fast. If your a nice person you definetly cant change that fast. A mean person could become good but only overtime. Same goes for a good person. A lot of pent up anger can make a good person turn bad but not that fast. That's what I believe.

  2. Scrooge has changed in many different ways. For example, his feelings changed about Christmas. He used to hate Christmas, but now he likes it. Also, he changed how he thinks about other people. He used to be not friendly, but now he is very friendly.

Furthermore, he was asked to donate money to charity and he said no and told the people to leave. Nevertheless, he changed and he went to the two men and donated the money. Also, he gave presents to the Cratchit's children. In addition, he bought the biggest goose for the Cratchit family.

If Scrooge changed, then other people can too. Scrooge was probably the meanest person anybody knew so if he can change anybody else can!

  3. Change is a hard thing to do. Especially over a short period of time. Scrooge however, changed his entire character in one night. In real life this is not possible. Scrooge had help from spirits and, spirits do not this. So, if anyone else was like Scrooge they would not be able to change overnight. It would probably take them at least a week and, a great motivation. So in conclusion people can not change like Scrooge did.

  4. Scrooge had a huge character change throughout the play. He went from an extremely morose person to a super kind person. I believe that this really can happen. Maybe not as drastically or quickly as Scrooge, but it is possible. For example someone could be the nicest person you’ve ever met, but something tragic could happen. Such as a loved one dying. This could change that really nice person to a very gloomy and sad person. Something like a loved one dying could also have a positive effect on somebody. For instance, it could teach a cruel person not to take anything for granted. This could result in the person becoming extremely kind. The other day, my mom was telling me about a girl she went to school with. This girl had a boyfriend for a fairly long time then one day he broke up with her. It completely changed her. She went from an immensely cheerful person to someone who was dull and depressed all the time. She never went back to the person she was before. Clearly, people can change and become a completely different person just like Scrooge.

  5. Scrooge has changed. First, scrooge was this gloomy guy and then he wouldn’t do anything for anyone he paid crotchet only 15 shillings a week. But now he did this for people and he also saved little times life .So these are some of the things that he did for the people mostly for crotchet. He bought the largest turkey for the worker, Crotchet. He paid kids money to deliver the turkey to Crotchets. He even paid for the kids to take a cab. These are examples of how he changed that fast. I don’t think that people can change that fast because it was a story and also we wouldn’t get haunted from the spirits of Christmas past, present, and future. Also we wouldn’t change in the matter of a day and also the ghost wouldn’t be able to make the time go back and forth. Thats why I think that people can’t change that fast in the matter of the time.

  6. Scrooge changed a lot throughout the play. Scrooge went from a total morose person, who was so grouchy and rude to everyone, to someone who loved life, everyone and everything around him. I think it is possible to change from mean to nice, or nice to mean. I don’t think it would happen as fast as scrooge, or exactly like scrooge, but I think it’s possible. For example, if someone is always a grouch like scrooge was, and you talked about it with them, and show them the beauty in life they might change their attitude towards other people. It might take a while, but if they try hard enough they might be able to change their attitude. If someone was alway nice to people and loved the world it might be possible for them to change to a morose person. For example, if something tragic happened to that person they might be mad or sad or even both at the same time. They might act like they hate everything. As you can see, I think it is very possible for a person to change.

  7. In the play A Christmas Carol Ebeneezer Scrooge changes from a menacing miser to a jolly-good fellow. I think people can change similar to the way Scrooge did. For example, if somebody gets into a dangerous situation they will value life more. On the Voice ther was a guy who went into a coma and promised to wake up before super bowl Sunday and he woke up the night up before. Now he values life a lot more and is much kinder to everybody. Another way people chage is by having a punishment. If people go to jail they may come out a different person. I used to get into trouble with my parents and when I came out I wouldn't be mad or upset anymore. Clearly, people can change similarly to the way Scrooge did.

  8. After watching and reading “A Christmas Carol” Scrooge has taken part in a huge change. In the beginning of the story/play Ebenezer was very “scrooge”. While watching and reading about Scrooge, during the scenes when the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future came I could realize he grew nicer and realized how rude he has been the past years. He also saw what was to come if he didn’t change his personality in general. At the end of the play Scrooge turned into a very loving, caring, and sensible guy.

I do feel that people can change no matter how rude they are. I think that if you keep doing random acts of kindness it will make you a better person and they will turn into a daily task. One personal experience I had was my grandfather didn’t really like Christmas until he noticed that it was not about how expensive his gifts had to be that he bought, it was just about getting together with your family.

  9. Scrooge changed in many different ways. For example, one of the things that he changed about himself was his feeling on Christmas. Another thing that he changed was his perspective on the way that he treated other people.

In act number two, he was some old grumpy guy that nobody exactly liked, but then, he changed into a completly different person and started being nice to every one. For example, when the thin man and the portly man came in to collect money for charity, at first he didn't want to, but after the spirits haunted him, he decided to change and donate a bunch of money that he had.

In addition to his mood change towards people, he also changed his perspective on Christmas. Before the ghosts came to haunt him, he never particually enjoyed Christmas that much. For example, he always thought that Christmas was a humbug, but then, when he was traveling to all the friends and family with the ghosts he finally noticed how special and important Christmas was.

Clearly, Scrooge changed a whole lot in act to and the play The Christmas Carol.

  10. Scrooge and his personality changed, after being visited by each ghost. He was mean and always in a bad mood but then changed to a kind loveing man.HI think people can change.People can change whenever they choose to.after being visited by the three ghosts scrooge relised how how his attitude affected other people he interacted with.I do think people can change based on their backround. Some causes for behavior might be asdness or lonlyness. It is possible for people to change.

  11. Ebeneezer Scrooge’s personality changed dramatically in the play and book "A Christmas Carol" from being rude and disrespectful to generous and caring. Scrooge finally realized how miserable he was after the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future visited him. I do believe people's personality’s can change dramatically through out there life time. For example someone who is always happy and friendly could go through a tragedy like a loved one dying or they could have lost their pet. From then on the person could be depressed and turn into a Scrooge. On the other hand it could be someone like Scrooge and then say they win the lottery or realize how rude they are being so then they start to become cheerful and become a better person. This is why I believe that people’s personality’s can change.

  12. In the play of The Christnas Carol Scrooge's thought changed a lot. Do I Belive that people can change so fast? Yes I do because if people warn you with enough information to make you take notice you may change right away. But then again if someone doesnt take notice then you wont change. But after the seeing the play and reading the book I think that it is possible that Srooge's action could have changed.
