  1. One of my favorite fables from my childhood is this one called Tarzan. I first saw the movie of this when I was very young. My grandma used to have nearly every Disney movie. Since I was over my grandma's house nearly every day due to my parents working I got to watch every single one at least 3 times. I watched Tarzan a lot. In the movie version it was about a little baby boy who's parents were eaten by a jaguar in the first 5 minuets. He is then raised by talking gorillas who just recently lost their child to the same jaguar. He learns to act a lot like gorillas and the movie cuts to many years later when he is about in his twenty's. He kills the same jaguar who killed his parents and the real story starts when a group of 3 jungle explorers. One is a lady about the same age as Tarzan. She's with her dad and a guide. The guide reveals himself to be evil only there to kill the gorillas. The rest of the movie is them trying to stop him. The reason this is a fable is because Tarzan himself never excited and there are talking Gorillas. I think this fable is still popular today. The movie was made in 1999,by Disney. Disney is well known so it gave it a lot of recognition. I first heard about around the age of 4 when my grandma said " Let's watch this one" This is one of my favorite fables.

  2. One of my favorite fairytales from when I was a little girl is Cinderella. Cinderella is about a girl that is living happily with her mother and father until her mother dies. Cinderella's father remarries a cruel woman who has two daughters, Drizella and Anastasia. When her father dies, Cinderella's wicked stepmother turns her into a servant in her own house. Meanwhile, in the castle, the King determines that his son the Prince should find a bride .So the King invites every woman in the kingdom to a ball, where his son will be able to choose his bride. Cinderella doesn’t have a dress for the ball, but her friends the mice, lead by Jacques, Gus, and the birds lend a hand in making her one, the evil stepsisters immediately tear the dress apart on the evening of the ball. At this point, Cinderella doesn’t have a dress to wear and she can’t go to the ball, until fairy godmother appears and turns Cinderella’s raggedy dress into a beautiful gown with glass slippers. Fairy godmother turns the mice into white horses and a pumpkin into a carriage. Once Cinderella looks amazing fairy godmother warns Cinderella that the spell will wear off when the clock strikes twelve. When Cinderella arrives at the ball she dances with the prince and they fall in love, as the clock is about to strike midnight she tells the prince she has to go, as she runs back down the stairs of the castle she looses one of her glass slippers. The prince runs after her but she is gone, he sees her glass slipper and takes it. The prince sends out searchers to try and find the girl he danced with at the ball. He takes the glass slipper to every house in the kingdom with a woman living in it and asks them to try it on. It doesn’t fit any of them; Cinderella’s house is the last one that he visits. Step mother sends out Drizella and Anastasia to try on the glass slipper it doesn’t fit them either, but just when the prince is about to give up hope Cinderella steps into the room and tries on the slipper it was a perfect fit! The prince proposes to Cinderella and they get married and live happily ever after. The first time I heard this story is when I was about 2 years old. I was just about to go to sleep when my mom decided that she was going to tell me a story I lay in bed fascinated as my mom told me this enchanting story, ever since then it has been one of my favorite fairy tales. I still think it is a popular fairy tale because everyone was told this story when they were young, and it seemed like the perfect life. So every little girl wanted to be Cinderella and to have a "happily ever after" in their life.

  3. One of my favorite fairy tales is Snow White from when I was little. It's about a girl, Snow White, who runs away to the forest and goes in the house of seven dwarfs to hide from her stepmother, the wicked Queen. The Queen is jealous because she wants to be known as the most beautiful in the the land and Snow White is more beautiful than the queen. The dwarfs grow to love their unexpected visitor who cleans their house and cooks their meals. One day while the dwarfs are at their diamond mine, the Queen arrives at the cottage disguised as an old woman and persuades Snow White to bite into a poisoned apple. The dwarfs, warned by the forest animals, rush home to chase the witch away, but they are too late to save Snow White from the poisoned apple. They place her in a glass coffin in the woods and mourn for her. The Prince who has fallen in love with Snow White happens to go by and awakens her from the evil Queen's deathlike spell with "love's first kiss." I don't really remember when I first heard of it but I believe I was around 4 or 5. That's when I saw the animated movie that Disney made of the fairy tale. I've never read the original one though. I believe that Snow White is still a popular fairy tale today. Almost every little girl knows about the Disney princess Snow White. There was even a movie that was somewhat based on this fairy tale called "Snow White and the Huntsman" that came out about a year ago. If movies are still being based off it then it must be popular.

  5. When I was little I used to watch the history channel all the time.Once when I was about 7 I saw a special about Beowulf. It's tale from Scandinavia. Beowulf the hero in the story is a man from Greats. He and 15 other soldiers sail to Danes. Where a evil beast known as Grendel is terrorizing the people. Beowulf fights the monster and defeats it. Grendel's mother is struck by grief when this happens and seeks revenge on Beowulf. Beowulf defeats Grendel's mother and became king after the former king was slain. Years past and Beowulf lived a good life. One day though a dragon attacked Beowulf's land. So he and some other soldiers went to slay it. Beowulf was injured in the fight and died. But before he did he gave his kingdom to one of the soldiers. This story is still popular today. But not as much as other stories of heroes such as Percuss or Hercules. Since there are all the Greek and Roman stories though Beowulf isn't as popular as it should be. But I do still see the Beowulf special on the History Channel time to time though so it is liked by many.

  6. One of my favorite fairy tales from when I was a little kid is The Three Little Pigs. The first time I heard this story I was probably five years old in kindergarten and as soon as I heard it, it became my favorite fairy tale. This story starts with three little pigs building houses for themselves. The first little pig chooses to make his house out of hay so he has time to play. The second pig also chooses to build his house out of an easy material which is sticks so he can play too. But the third pig was smart and chose to build his house out of bricks so he would be safe from the wolf even if he doesn't get to have fun. Then the wolf comes and tries to blow down their houses and the only one he couldn't blow down was the little pig who built his house out of bricks so he was safe. I really like this story because it shows you that hard work does pay off and if you don’t work hard bad things can happen. Also, I do believe that this fairy tale is still popular because mostly every person has heard of this famous story.

  7. One of my favorite fairytales is TARZAN. Tarzan is about a boy who's parents die after he is born and is then found by a Gorilla "Mom". The boy is then named Tarzan. He grows up learning the ways of gorillas doing what they do thinking he is one of them. Tarzan grows up to be full grown "gorilla". One day he hears a sound that he's never heard before. It was the sound of a gunshot. So he sets out trying to find what the sound came from. He soon finds a group of people thinking they are aliens or something. He meets a woman who is in the group. They are trying to find gorillas in the jungle. Tarzan soon befriends the woman. She tries to communicate with him thinking he knows where to find gorillas. Tarzan falls in love with the woman. He takes her to meet his "Family" the gorillas. One of the group members who comes along who is also the antagonist maps out the location of the gorilla familie's location. He soon takes over the ship witch the expaditionists was traveled on.He captures the Tarzan, the nwoman, and another man. Some of Tarzan'z animal friends attempt to save everyone fro the evil hands of the antagonist and they succeed. Everyone escapes and goes to the spot where the gorillas lived where they find most of the gorillas caged and caught in nets about to be brought back to the ship.Tarzan and his friends work together to save his "family" and get rid of the bad guys. Tarzan and the antagonist fight until one(antagoinist) of them dies when he falls and is caught in rope where he is hanged. This story stood out to me because it was exciting, suspensful, and had action in it. It is now popular in both books and movies. In my opinion it is a great story full of adventure.

  8. My favorite fairy tale is Narnia. I loved Narnia ever since I was a little kid. I think it was one of the first DVD's I ever watched. I is an amazing story. In a way it combines all the fairy tales together. It has kings queens princes and princesses. It also has mermaids unicorns nights and talking animals. I think it still influences society even today. About every little girl and little boy knows this wonderful fairy tale. One thing I learn from this story is never run away or go to strangers for candy. This was a moral to me because a little boy in Narnia called Edward ran away from his brother and sisters to get candy from a stranger. The part when he is running through the woods to the Ice queen's palace for candy really scared me when I was little. Therefor, that lesson really sticks with me.

  9. One of my favorite tall tails that I heard when i was a kid was about cella' dwellas'. My dad use to tell my brother, sister and I about these purple and green goblin tybe people that would live in your cellar and if you didn't turn on the lights they would attack you. The purple ones were the ones that would attack you, they had no legs, fungus growing on their backs, and had long grabbing sticks to catch you because they had no legs. The green ones on the other hand the green ones would help you get to the surface before the purple ones could get you. The cella' dwellas' were at war with each other for a long time and when they fight they make a lot of noise. If you thought that it was your washing machine making that noise, you were wrong. I use to be so afraid of going down stairs, but my dad would alway be there by myside and protect me. So if you hear bumps in the night comming from the basement, it could just be cella' dwellas' and you could be next!

  10. One of my favorite fairy tales is little red riding hood. The first time I heard this story was probably when I was in kindergarten so like 5 or 6. This has been my favorite fairy tale ever since. I like this story because it teaches you not to talk to strangers. Also, I like this story because it has been around for a long time. That is pretty cool. They even made a movie with little red riding hood in it but with a little twist. Little red riding hood is about a little girl who is in the woods bringing goods to her grandmothers. When she gets to the house she sees her grand mother in bed but it doesn’t look like her. Little red riding hood asks her questions and then the wolf tries to eat her. This teaches little kids never to talk to strangers.

  11. One good childhood fable is the tortoise and the hare. In this wonderful story, there is a hare who is always boasting about how fast and speedy he is to everyone. He also continuously would just nag tortoise for his slow speed. Then, tortoise stepped up and defended himself and accepted a challenge to race the speedy hare. The race has started, and the hare was very, very far ahead so he decided to nap and have a snack. Next, as he was asleep the tortoise had passed him and was almost at the finish line. As the hare woke, he saw the speck of the tortoise in the distance. Just then, he leaped up to speed by the tortoise and win the race but, he wasn’t fast enough and the tortoise won! When I first heard this marvelous story was when I was about 5 years old. Additionally, in my opinion this fable is still popular today and it can also teach you an important lesson/moral. This moral is if you go at a steady pace and keep at something you will succeed.

  12. My favorite fable was The Tar Baby. I found it when looking through a bunch of old books with all these poems in them. The moral of the story is to not be mean or else will backfire. The story was about a fox who wanted to get rid of a rabbit permanently. So the fox I made a baby out of tar. When the rabbit saw the baby he tried to talk to him but there was no response. After many times trying to talk to the baby without a response the rabbit finally slapped the baby. His hand got stuck to the tar in the Fox came out and said I'm going to take you into the shaft. The rabbit said oh no not the shaft I'll never be able to get out of the shaft. The fox threw the rabbit into the shaft and the rabbit got out quickly. The Fox asked how he got out and the rabbit said I grew up in the shaft.

  13. The Abominable Snowman was a legend I heard when I was young. Scooby-Doo made a movie about him because he is really cool. It was popular when I was growing up and I hope it is still popular now, but I do not know. The abominable Snowman is about a giant yeti (also a legend, but not as cool) who lives in the Himalayas and terrorizes people he sees, and I think he eats them but I'm not sure, and that is why I chose to write about him.
